Pay per video vs subscription vs pay for results (done for you)
Updated 2026-10-09 · Alvin's Club Studio
Product video is sold three ways: per video, by subscription, or, in done-for-you programs, by results. The price on the page matters less than what you pay for a video that fails, a month you don't post, and a video that doesn't sell.
| Pay per video | Subscription | Pay for results (done for you) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you're charged | A set price for each video you order | A monthly or yearly fee for a set allowance of videos, credits or seats | A production cost per successful video plus a commission on the sales the videos bring in, on terms agreed before work starts |
| You pay before any sales | The price of the videos you order | The fee, every period, whether you use it or not | The production cost of each successful video; the rest comes from sales |
| A video that fails to generate | Depends on the provider: check it | Usually uses up part of the allowance | Not a successful video, so not charged |
| A video that doesn't sell | Paid for; you learn what doesn't work | Paid for inside the fee | Production cost only: no sales, no commission |
| Who does the work | Usually you: pick products, order, post, track | You: prompt, edit, post, track | The provider's team: picks products, makes and posts videos, tracks sales |
| Commitment | None beyond what you buy | A billing period, often renewing automatically | An agreement on scope, attribution, eligible sales and settlement |
| Fits | Sellers who want many videos fast and post them themselves | Teams with a steady, predictable volume who like to drive the tool | Brands and sellers who want a team to run video and share the outcome |
Each column describes a kind of pricing in general; individual offers differ, so read the terms of the one you consider.
How to choose
- You post yourself and your volume moves month to month: pay per video keeps idle months free.
- You make a steady number of videos and like to drive the tool: a subscription can work, if you use most of the allowance.
- You want a team to run video and be paid mainly when you sell: a done-for-you program paid by results. Ask how sales are attributed, which sales count, and what is paid before any sale.
Where Alvin's Club Studio sits
Self-serve: pay per video
3 credits ($3) for 8 seconds, 4 for 12, 5 for 15. Your first video is free: 8 seconds, small watermark, email only, no card. You pay for every video we generate. Scripts we stop in review and videos that fail to generate are free. Credits never expire; no subscription.
Done for you: pay for results
A very low basic production cost per successful video, plus commission (CPS) on sales. We win when you sell. We share the result; we don't promise a sales volume or ROAS. Terms are agreed with our team before we start.
We don't sell subscriptions. Self-serve is never paid by results: only our done-for-you program is.
Questions
Which is cheaper per video: pay per video or a subscription?
It depends on how many videos you really use. A subscription is cheaper per video only if you use most of the allowance every period; pay per video costs nothing in a month you don't make videos. Work it out from your own volume, including the months you post less.
Is a done-for-you program paid by results free if nothing sells?
No. In our done-for-you program you pay a very low basic production cost per successful video, plus commission (CPS) on sales. If a video doesn't sell, there is no commission on it, but its production cost is still paid.
Does a done-for-you program paid by results promise sales?
No. Done for you, our team is paid mainly when you sell, so we share the result with you, but we don't promise a sales volume or ROAS. Product, price, audience, store conversion and platform conditions all affect results.
Is self-serve paid by results, like done for you?
No. Self-serve videos are charged per video: you pay for every video we generate. Scripts we stop in review and videos that fail to generate are free. Only our done-for-you program is paid by results.
Do you sell subscriptions?
No. Self-serve uses credits you buy when you need them (1 credit = $1, credit packs add bonus credits) and they never expire. Done for you is agreed with our team.
