Why AI product videos sometimes change your product, and how to lower the risk

Why AI video drifts from the real product (colour, print, logos, hands), how we lower the risk, and why you should still review every video.
The short answer
An AI video model doesn't copy your product photo into the video: it generates every frame anew, using your photos as a reference. Most of the time the product comes out close to the photos, but a shade, a print, a logo, a small part or the way fabric falls can drift. Good references and careful scripts lower the risk; they don't remove it. Watch every video before you post it.
Why the product changes
- Frames are generated, not filmed. The model redraws the product in each frame, so fine detail (a small print, stitching, an engraving) is the first thing to wander.
- Light changes colour. A product placed in a warm room or in sunlight can read warmer or darker than on a white product photo.
- Text and logos are hard. Video models often garble letters, on the product and anywhere else in the frame.
- Hands are hard. Fingers handling a small piece, working a lever or adjusting a part are where products get bent, merged or duplicated.
- Unseen sides are guessed. If the photos show only the front, the model invents the back and the sides when the product turns.
- Busy photos confuse the reference. A person, props or a second product in the photo can leak into the result.
What we do to lower the risk
- Clean references. Up to three of your photos are cleaned to the bare product on white (people, props and backgrounds removed), with the instruction to keep the exact colours, shape and details. This cleaning is itself done by an AI image model.
- A fidelity instruction. The video model is told to keep the product's shape, materials, colours, logos and printed text as shown, and to add no text overlays, captions or watermarks.
- Facts from your page only. The script claims only what your product page says or the photos show.
- Scripts that avoid risky moves. For jewelry, chairs and furniture the scripts keep fingers off the piece and don't operate levers, knobs or small mechanisms by hand.
- A review before filming. Every script is reviewed before the video is made; one that doesn't pass isn't made and isn't charged.
None of this checks the finished video against your product for you. That last look is yours.
How you can help
- Use clear photos of the product alone, in its true colour, ideally from more than one angle.
- Avoid photos with several products, heavy filters or text over the product.
- Before posting, compare the video with your listing: colour, print, logo, shape and parts.
- If something is off, don't post it; make a new version (a new video, charged at the normal price), or tell us.
Questions
Will the product in the video match my photos exactly?
Not always. It's usually close, but AI video can drift on colour, print, logos and small details. Review every video before you post it.
Does a failed video cost anything?
No. Scripts that don't pass review and videos that fail to generate are not charged.
Can you add text or my logo on screen?
We don't ask the model for any on-screen text, because AI lettering is often garbled. The caption and hashtags come as editable text.
