Amazon product video requirements: what to check before you upload an AI clip
Updated 2026-10-15 · Alvin's Club Studio
How Amazon product videos differ from a social clip, which specs to confirm in Seller Central, and how to make a product video from an Amazon link without claiming the upload will be accepted.
Key points
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Where the spec lives | Seller Central, for your marketplace, on the day you upload. |
| Our file | Vertical 9:16, 8, 12 or 15 seconds, voiceover, no text in the frame. |
| What we do not do | We do not upload to Amazon or promise the listing will accept the file. |
| Input | An Amazon US or Canada link, or 1-3 photos. No camera and no videographer. |
| Price | First video free with a small watermark, then $3 for 8 seconds. No subscription. |
The short answer
Amazon lets sellers add video to a product detail page, and it publishes the file rules inside Seller Central. Those rules cover length, file type, size and what the video may claim, and they differ by marketplace and by the tool you upload through. This guide does not copy a pixel size or a maximum length from memory, because a wrong number is worse than a link to the live help page. Open Seller Central, search for product video, and use the spec on that page the day you upload.
Alvin's Club Studio can read an Amazon link for the US and Canada and make a short vertical video of the product worn or used, with a voiceover and a caption. You download the file and upload it yourself if Amazon's current rules allow that file. We do not submit it to Amazon, and we do not know whether a given listing's category will accept it. The first video is free with a small watermark. After that, 8 seconds is $3, with no subscription and no camera.
What an Amazon product video is for
On a detail page the video sits next to the photos. The shopper is already on the listing, so the job is not to stop a stranger in a feed. The job is to answer a question the photos leave open: how a shirt moves, how a sofa sits in a room, how a necklace looks worn, how the parts fit together. A video that repeats the title in a louder voice does less than a video that shows the product in use.
A social ad is the other job. The same file can be a hook test somewhere else, but Amazon's slot has its own rules about claims, music, and whether text on screen is allowed. Studio's self-serve files have no text in the frame. The caption and hashtags arrive as editable text, which you can drop if Amazon does not want them in the upload. Add nothing on screen that the listing does not support.
Specs you confirm in Seller Central, not here
Before you export or upload, write down the live requirements from Amazon's help for that marketplace. The list sellers usually have to satisfy looks like this, and the numbers belong to Amazon's page, not to this one:
- File type and length. Note the extensions and the minimum and maximum duration the help page names today.
- Picture size and shape. Note the pixel size and the aspect ratios that page allows. Our file is vertical, 9:16, and 8, 12 or 15 seconds. If the live spec wants a different shape, this file may not be the one to upload, and you should not crop it in a way that cuts the product off.
- Audio. Note whether music, voice, or silence is required, and whether rights have to be cleared. Our voiceover is part of the file. If the spec forbids a voice, do not upload it.
- Claims and people. Keep the spoken line to the listing. Do not present the AI model as a customer who bought the product. If Amazon asks you to mark AI-generated media, do that in their form.
- Who may upload. Brand Registry and ordinary seller tools are not the same screen. Use the one your account actually has.
Seller Central is behind a login. We link the public sell.amazon.com learning page below for orientation, and you still confirm the spec in your own account.
Making the video from the Amazon link
- Use the link of the exact variant you want on camera: the color and the size whose photos match what you will ship.
- Paste it into Studio. We read Amazon for the US and Canada, plus Shopify and most other stores. If the page cannot be read, upload 1-3 photos and the product name.
- Stay inside self-serve categories: clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry and home goods (furniture, bedding, decor and bath). Not lamps or rugs. Other categories can be made by our team, done for you, which is a separate agreement.
- Pick a length only after you have read Amazon's duration rule. Eight seconds is one idea. Twelve or 15 seconds can show a second detail. If the minimum on Amazon's page is longer than our file, do not pad the video with a frozen frame and hope. Use a different edit, or do not upload it.
- Review the product. We make every effort to keep it consistent with your photos. AI video can still slip, so check color, print, logo, shape and parts. A video that changes the product is a bad upload on any marketplace.
- Download and upload in Seller Central yourself. Studio does not have an Amazon posting connection.
The general link-to-video steps are in product link to video AI. For a store page rather than Amazon, see shoppable product video for Shopify. Sellers who want the Amazon landing page, rather than this requirements guide, can start at videos for Amazon sellers.
No camera, and a cheap hook before a $300 shoot
You do not film yourself and you do not book a videographer. That is the point for a seller who is camera-shy or who has no stock in the room: the listing photos and the link are the input. It is also the point when you want to see a hook before you pay a creator. Public forum posts describe $300 as the fee for one creator video used only to test whether a hook works. Here the 8-second file is $3. Watch it. If the product drifted, do not upload it. If Amazon's spec rejects the shape or the length, do not upload it. The $3 spent is the look at the idea, not an Amazon-ready certificate.
Human creators remain the right hire when the video must be a real person unboxing the unit they received, or when Amazon's category rules want footage you cannot get from a generated scene.
Before you pay for a second length, watch the first file muted and with sound. Read the voiceover against the bullet points on the listing. If the voice names a fabric, a dimension or a kit that the page does not, cut that line by ordering another version rather than uploading the first file and editing the claim in an external tool you do not control. A second version is a new charge. That is still cheaper than a listing that shows a product you do not ship. Price
The first video is free: 8 seconds, a small watermark, email only, no card. It is not a watermark-free file. Videos after your first credit purchase have no watermark. Then you pay per video: 3 credits for 8 seconds, 4 for 12, 5 for 15, and 1 credit is $1, less in a credit pack. There is no subscription. You pay for every video we generate. Scripts we stop in review and videos that fail to generate are free. Details are on pricing.
Done for you, if you want our team to run production under a separate agreement, is paid by results: a very low basic production cost per successful video, plus commission (CPS) on sales. That program does not upload to Amazon unless the agreement says so. See done for you.
Questions
Does Amazon publish one video spec for every seller?
No. Confirm file type, length, size and aspect ratio in Seller Central for your marketplace on the day you upload. This page does not restate those numbers.
Can I upload a 9:16 AI video to Amazon?
Only if the spec you see in your account allows that shape and length. Our file is 9:16 and 8, 12 or 15 seconds. If the spec wants something else, do not force the upload.
Is the free video free of a watermark?
No. The free trial video carries a small watermark. Videos after the first credit purchase do not.
Do you upload the video to Amazon for me?
No. You download it and use Seller Central. We do not have a connection that submits product video.
Which Amazon links work?
Amazon US and Canada, for products in the self-serve categories. If the page cannot be read, use photos.
