TikTok Shop affiliate video requirements: rules, samples, and where AI fits
Updated 2026-10-15 · Alvin's Club Studio
What an affiliate video on TikTok Shop has to do, how sample and commission programs actually work, and when an AI product video is the wrong file to post on someone else's listing.
Key points
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Three rule layers | TikTok Shop policy, the affiliate program, and the brand. |
| AI | Allowed by the platform only when labeled and accurate. Brands can still say no. |
| Samples | If the program requires the sample on camera, an AI scene is the wrong file. |
| A $3 hook test | Look at an opening before you pay a creator about $300. It does not promise a sale. |
| Studio | Makes the file from a link or photos. You post it. No camera required. |
The short answer
A TikTok Shop affiliate video is a shoppable post for a product you do not have to own, usually after you join that product's affiliate or creator program. The video still has to follow TikTok Shop's content policy, the program's own rules, and any extra rule the brand sets. Those extra rules are not optional. Sellers and affiliates on public forums describe brands that refuse AI-generated shoppable video, and affiliates who received violations after posting AI. If the program is silent, ask before you post.
Alvin's Club Studio can make a short product video from a TikTok Shop (US) link or from photos, with no camera and no videographer. You download it. We do not join the affiliate program, request the sample, or post the video. The first video is free with a small watermark. An 8-second video after that is $3, with no subscription. Use it for a catalog-style look at the product or to test a hook. Do not use a stack of near copies as your affiliate feed.
What the platform asks of the video
Affiliate or not, the US content policy still applies. AI-generated content must not mislead, impersonate, change the product, or invent an effect. The video should match the product page: color, size, material, what is in the box, and what the product can and cannot do. The policy says synthetic visuals can be treated as low quality when they replace a real demonstration and do not help a shopper understand the product. Disclosure is required when the video is entirely AI-generated or significantly edited with AI. Turn on TikTok's AI-generated control, and say so in the caption. Official effects can label themselves. A file from a third-party studio does not.
The video also has to be a shoppable post the program accepts: the right product linked, the commission terms you agreed to, and any banned phrase or banned format that program lists. Those terms live in the seller or creator backend, not on this page. Our guide to low quality AIGC walks through the public policy text, and are AI videos allowed on TikTok Shop is the shorter version.
Samples, commissions, and why creators feel slow
Many affiliate programs ask you to request a sample, wait for it, film it, and post within a window. The commission is a share of qualifying sales, set by the seller, and it can be held or removed if the post is taken down. This page does not state a commission rate, because there is not one rate.
That wait is the pain affiliates describe: hiring is expensive and inconsistent, and the turnaround misses the week the product was timely. A video from a product link does not replace the sample when the program requires you to show the item you received. It can replace a shoot when you are allowed to show the product from listing photos, or when you are the seller making your own catalog. Read the program. If it says the product in the video must be the sample in your hand, an AI scene is the wrong file.
People also describe spending $500 or more and sending a large number of messages before one creator replies. That is a sourcing problem. It is not, by itself, permission to post synthetic video into a program that wants a person.
How to make affiliate videos without pretending you filmed a sample
If you are allowed to post AI, say so, and make the video about the product facts on the page. A useful affiliate clip answers one buying question: how it looks worn, how a piece of furniture sits, how a necklace sits on a neck. It does not claim you bought it, wore it for a month, or measured a result.
- Confirm the program allows AI, and confirm the brand has not banned it.
- Paste the product link into Studio, or upload 1-3 photos and the name if the page cannot be read.
- Pick one hook. Eight seconds is enough. Make a second only when the first file matches the product.
- Check color, print, logo, shape and parts against the listing.
- Download, turn on the AI label, add the affiliate product link in TikTok's own flow, and post.
Self-serve products are clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry and home goods. Not lamps or rugs. The wider workflow is in affiliate videos without samples and AI video generator for TikTok Shop.
Hooks, views, and the $3 test
Affiliates also describe videos that get views and no sales, and hooks that go stale while a reshoot is still in progress. The hook is often the only line they change. Testing that line with a creator means another brief and another fee. Sellers on public forums say nobody should pay $300 for a video only to learn whether a hook works. An 8-second Studio video is $3, so you can look at two or three openings before you book a person. Each version is a new video at the normal price. A finished file cannot be edited in place.
Views are not something this product sells. New accounts on public forums describe posts sitting at very low view counts. A new file does not fix distribution. It only gives you a clip you are willing to post if the program allows it.
Keep a simple record for yourself: the product, the hook line, the length, whether the AI label was on, and what the program said about AI. When a post is removed, that note tells you whether you repeated a format the program already disliked. Do not keep posting the same opening with a new caption and call it a new test. Change the claim, the scene, or the product, and only when the previous file actually matched the listing. If you cannot tell the files apart on a phone, you do not have two tests. You have one video uploaded twice, which is the pattern low-quality enforcement is written to catch.
A creator is still the right person when the program wants a face that received the sample, a voice that is theirs, and a story about using the product. Pay them for that job, on the terms you agreed. Use the $3 file only for the question a creator fee is too large to answer: does this opening make sense before anyone films.
What it costs if you make it here
3 credits for 8 seconds, 4 for 12, 5 for 15. One credit is $1. Credit packs add bonus credits, and the first purchase adds 10% more credits. Credits do not expire. There is no subscription. The first video is free: 8 seconds, small watermark, email only, no card. After the first credit purchase, new videos have no watermark. You pay for every video we generate. Scripts we stop in review and videos that fail to generate are free. The list is on pricing.
If you want a team to pick products, make the videos, post them and track sales, done for you is paid by results: our team charges a very low basic production cost per successful video, plus commission (CPS) on sales. That is a different contract from an affiliate post you make yourself. See done for you.
Questions
What are the TikTok Shop affiliate video rules?
The platform content policy, the affiliate program's terms, and the brand's own limits. AI must be labeled and must match the product. Some brands ban AI affiliate video outright.
Can I make affiliate videos without a sample?
Only when the program allows a video that is not of the sample they shipped you. If the program requires the physical sample on camera, use the sample.
Can you use AI videos for TikTok Shop affiliate posts?
The platform allows labeled AI that does not mislead. A brand or a program can still forbid it. Ask before you post, and read the low quality AIGC guide linked from this page.
How much does an AI version cost?
The first 8-second video is free and watermarked. After that, 8 seconds is $3, with no subscription.
Do you post the affiliate video?
No. You download the file and post it in TikTok with the product link and the AI label.
